Mah-Jong – beginners welcome
The game of Mah-Jong is similar to the Western card game of rummy. It is a game of skill, strategy and calculation and involves a degree of chance. The game is played with 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. Estimates of the age of the game vary but some claim it dates to the time of Confucius 551-479.
The word Mah-Jong means “The Sparrows” and refers to the clinking of the tiles as they are shuffled face downwards on the table.
